Greenfield power plants in Italy
Marche region
The Marche region is located in Central Italy between the Adriatic Sea and the Apennines. In the north, the region borders Emilia-Romagna and the Republic of San Marino and, in the south, the Abruzzo region. Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio are to the west. Ancona is the regional capital. The region consists of the provinces of Pesaro-Urbino, Ancona, Macerata, Fermo and Ascoli-Piceno. In terms of the amount of sunshine and its intensity, the Marche region is one of the top places in Europe. Sites in the Marche region achieve a global radiation of 1,200 to 2,000 kWh per square meter of surface area.
Marche has numerous advantages in comparison with other regions in Italy, such as Puglia:
- Fewer projects submitted for approval
- Better electricity grid infrastructure
- Rapid processing by licensing authorities and energy supply companies

In January 2011, SolConTec International AG started the construction phase of the Servigliano solar power plant in the Italian province of Marche near Ancona. The 994 kW power plant is being constructed by SolConTec together with its long term partner Phono Solar using the successful Phono Solar 190 W modules featuring monocrystalline technology. Completion is already scheduled for March 2011; the whole power plant will be connected to the grid of local energy supplier ENEL in April.
The Servigliano project was developed in its entirety by SolConTec International AG. All relevant steps were carried out or controlled by the SolConTec team, ranging from the search for a suitable construction site and technical planning through to approval, financing and implementation. This project is just the first in a pipeline of several greenfield power plants for SolConTec International AG in Italy.
